(This is a question for someone like Katie)

What qualifications would you need to work at the Aardman? (GCSE/A Level/International Baccalaureate)

Thanks if you can answer.

On the Aardman Website there is a Jobs section and it says different parts of things you could do like Modelmaking and Animating.. and it just says to send some of your work to them and they will look at it, then they might like you and ask you if you want to work there or maybe have a week there for them to see if you are good enough. Then you might be in for a good chance.

Do you have a link for that harry?

Harry Posted: Aug 25th 2008

Here we are you two the Jobs section:http://www.aardman.com/html/jobs.asp

Ursrut Posted: Aug 25th 2008

ah thanks.
Although it does say with work experience that you aren't offering placements at the moment. :(

Harry Posted: Aug 25th 2008

Ohh, they might see your work if you ask for a job though and ask if you want to have a work experience there because they think you are good.

Ursrut Posted: Aug 25th 2008

true. :) .

Chocachoc Posted: Aug 27th 2008

Katie?

What GCSE/A Level/International Baccalaureate/Degree qualifications do you need?

Please could you answer?

Seb Moderator Posted: Aug 27th 2008

It's not usually set qualifications, but they might have ideas or set them depending on what job you're going for.

You can take on Animation for degrees etc. if that's what you're interested in but basically you just need to be really good and have a natural talent for it. To be an Aardman Animator you will usually be the sort of person who has been doing that for years as a hobby just because you find it fun.

They're not just looking for qualifications they're looking for skill, interest and love for it usually. That's why it's so hard to understand!

Hope that makes sense.

Chocachoc Posted: Aug 27th 2008

thanks seb!

Mark the shark Posted: Aug 27th 2008

Where have you been, Seb?! :O

katie Aardman Staff Posted: Aug 28th 2008

Cheers Seb, couldn't have put it better myself!

I think building up a good portfolio/showreel of work is really important - something that really shows off what you can do. Qualifications aren't everything, but taking courses in art/animation/film (whatever you feel passionate about) are likely to develop your skills in ways you may not have imagined otherwise.

Have you had a look at the jobs section of the Aardman website?
http://www.aardman.com/html/jobs.asp

There's some useful information pages on there, plus I'd recommend checking back regularly to see the type of jobs that are advertised and their accompanying descriptions. That way, you should get a better idea of what skills are required.

jordan Posted: Aug 28th 2008
