i think i always had a fascination about animation and when i was about eight i got a book on it and a little kit. It seemed a bit hard. About three four years later my dad showed me a website about stop motion animation and how you can make your own animation like the characters in adverts.

I saw this thing called cre8 on discovery then got into w&g then did my own ones

I never cared much for animation until I saw W&G and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, as that's when I was introduced to animating with clay. Animation by drawing doesn't interest me at all; I seem to like sculpture and 3 dimensional art a lot more. I doubt I would have made any models, though, if it wasn't for this forum, with all the inspiration, friendly help and useful tips.

We got a new dv camera years ago and I read the manual (for some reason) and found out that I could make animations with it. I then found out how to do it on the computer (after a few years) and a couple of years later, here I am :)

jills Posted: Sep 7th 2008

Hi Chocachoc, I'm glad you stumbled on that manual

Harry Posted: Sep 7th 2008

I got into animation by a competition, it was that the whole town had to make an video or animation, in the schools you made groups and I made one with two of my freinds, we had a few paper sets and it went well until in the middle of filming when we went home from school, the next time we came back there was plasticine all in the webcam making it cloudy, it went well though and was fun to make, then this wesite came and that made me get Cracking Animation to make me want to make lots, I have been into animation making for two years now, and I have liked animation all my life.

seeing the wrong trousers for the first time got me into animation and that was ages ago. i alrady had a software in which you could make cartoons in. i made millions of cartoons on that and then the next step was claymation, and i'm working on a film now

jills Posted: Sep 12th 2008

Crackingtoast, what are you working on?

conty Posted: Sep 12th 2008

i started at playschool using clay, then discovered W&G and nick park and that was it, i was hooked:)

Ursrut Posted: Sep 12th 2008

At our play school i remember making pots and butterflies out of clay, i think we still have a few of them somewhere.

plasjas Posted: Sep 12th 2008

i used clay and plasticine in nursery (playschool) making blob people and so on
